Arlene McGuinn Lawson, 71, formerly of Sunny View, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 in the Henderson Care Center, Forest City, N.C.

Born in Sunshine, N.C., she was the daughter of Marie H. Sain McGuinn of Billings, Mont. and the late Buford McGuinn. Arlene worked for several years at Hatch Mill, Columbus and later at Absorba in Rutherford County, N.C. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving along with her mother are a son, Michael C. Lawson (Lovanda) of Mill Spring; a daughter, Sonja L. Wilson of Mill Spring; three brothers, Robbin McGuinn (Joanne) of Forest City, N.C.; Randy McGuinn of Columbia, S.C. and Decatur McGuinn (Brenda) of Sunny View; a sister, Lillian Silvers of Billings, Mont. Also surviving are four grandchildren, David M. Yoak, Chelsea L. Wilson, Elijah Lawson and Piper Lawson and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the Big Level Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Rev. William Swink and Rev. Robert Orr officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. just before the funeral in Big Level Baptist Church.
