Polk County’s young artists are getting a chance to illustrate their budding talents in The Mediation Center’s “Draw Your Peace” contest. The Mediation Center is currently distributing contest information to schools and other likely sources of participants.
All artwork must respond to the question, “What does peace look like to you?” The entry can be a drawing or a painting and must measure either 8 x 11 inches or 5 x 7 inches. Participants are asked to include a separate sheet containing their name, grade, address, phone number and school name.
The “visions of peace” entries should be sent via conventional mail to The Mediation Center, c/o Amy Neshat, 40 N French Broad Avenue, Suite B, Asheville, N.C., 28801. The entry deadline is March 21.
Submissions will be voted upon on The Mediation Center’s Facebook page from April 11 – 25. The entries gaining the most “likes” in three age brackets will be recognized. Prizes will be awarded to winners in the K-fifth grades; sixth-eighth grades; and ninth-12th grades. The prizes, will include gift certificates and tickets to local theaters.
Those seeking additional information can contact valeriec@mediatewnc.org. The email should use the subject line “Draw Your Peace.”
