Polk County residents intent upon improving their skills as peacemakers can do so by participating in one of several community mediation training classes now being offered by The Mediation Center.
According to Jan Woloson, senior mediator and trainer based at the Henderson/Polk office in Hendersonville, “This training can aid parents, counselors, managers, organizers, nonprofit workers and health care professionals. Actually it is for anyone looking to improve their conflict resolution skills.”
She adds, “Participants will build skills in reflective listening; in neutral and supportive communication; in brain-storming leadership; and in reaching future-focused agreements.”
The interactive, hands-on training will be conducted on Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14. Each class is being offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the training center in Asheville, N.C.
For more information or to register for one of the classes, visit the training section of The Mediation Center website, www.mediatewnc.org.
