The Saluda Center will be celebrating a new year with new direction and an addition on the facility.
The center is hosting an open house for the new addition on Monday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. The community is invited where refreshments will be served.
The addition includes a stone gas log fireplace and a multipurpose room for both the center and the community available for rent.
Saluda Center board chair Karen Bultman said the addition cost $44,000, with the center increasing their debt for the addition by $27,000. The center raised more than $7,000 for the addition and Polk County commissioners gave $15,000 for the project.
Bultman said the center has received nothing but compliments about the addition with the center already seeing an increase in activities. The center now can have two functions occurring at the same time upstairs.
“We are very appreciative of our relationship with Macon Bank (which refinanced a loan for the project) and their support and the support of Don Mintz Builders (contractor),” Bultman said. “Don is a big supporter of the Saluda Center as well as Macon Bank.”
2014 will be the beginning of the center’s second decade.
Tax-deductible donations for the Saluda Center can be sent to 64 Greenville St., Saluda, N.C. 28733.
