Columbus Lions Club members bring Christmas cheer to VIPs

Members of the Columbus Lions Club recently fanned out across Polk County to deliver their brand of Christmas cheer to all of their VIPs (Visually Impaired Persons).
The group assembled gift baskets. Gift baskets included a poinsettia, large print calendar, personalized greeting card and assorted Christmas goodies. Those with Christmas trees received a cross-stitched ornament done by Lion President Fran Goodwin. Some received a gift card from a local grocery store instead of a food basket.
Useful and tasty items collected by club members were delivered to the Marjorie McCune Memorial Center in Black Mountain by Lions Fran and Garland Goodwin.
The center is an assisted-living residence home for some 64 people. The center is owned and operated by the Western North Carolina Lions. Lion Garland tuned the chapel piano while there. The club meets on the first and third Thursdays at Calvert’s Kitchen in Columbus. If you would like to help, please call Fran Goodwin at 828-894-2505.
