Tryon Little Theater has announced the cast for their next musical, “Fiddler on the Roof,” which will run Feb. 20 -23 at the Tryon Fine Arts Center.
“This is a huge cast,” said Betty Brewer, Producer of the show. “We have daughters, suitors, dead grandmothers, revolutionaries, Russian soldiers, tradesmen and all the villagers of Anatevka. This show has always been a favorite with audiences, and I doubt we’ll disappoint.”
Directed by Dan Harvey, a newcomer to TLT, the cast will tell the story of Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions in an ever-changing political and social landscape in Tsarist Russia.
Playing Tevye (the father) and Golde (his wife) are Mark Schweizer and Susie Kocher.  Their daughters: Kate Riedy, Miriam Jackson, Emily Kocher, Bethany Ghent and Emma Hay.  The suitors: Eli Jenkins, Price Marshall and James Riedy.  Helen Byrd plays Yente, the Matchmaker.
Other principals include: Mark Monaghan, Josh Moffitt, Guy Winker, Ed Harrelson, Lori Lee, Ed Richardson, John Calure, Mason Lee, Madi Siegfried and Richard Brown.
Russians are played by Jeff Carter, Alex Harrelson, Jake Merritt, James Riedy and John Rochford; and the young boys by Eric Harrelson and Eli Tomberlin.
Villagers and wedding guests: Joanne Alderman, Carol Cox, Debbie Craig-Archer, Rody Dayvault, Susie Deluciano, Michelle Fleming, Tena Greene-Porter, Petra Harrelson, Carla Jackson, Jessa Jackson, Mary Meyers, Jennifer Monterisi, Gordon Pendarvis, Alexis Porter, Steve Porter, Kelly Tomberlin-Archer, Lesley Wells and Nancy Winker.
The music is by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and the book by Joseph Stein. The musical is based on the tale of “Tevye and his Daughters” by Sholem Aleichem.
“We’ve already had a couple of rehearsals,” said Brewer, “and from the sound of it, this show is going to be spectacular!”
