Community Chorus preps for Dec. 15 holiday concert

Anybody know what sectionals are? “We do!” say the Community Chorus members.
The 90-plus member Chorus is getting ready for its holiday concert which will be Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m., in the auditorium at Polk County High School.
Lesley Bush, director, has the whole chorus singing together for a few minutes on Monday evenings then breaks the group out into sectionals – tenors, baritones and basses go to one room to rehearse with Bush, and the sopranos and altos are treated to their sectional to rehearse with Fran Creasy, soprano, and, all are discovering, a terrific director.
The author of this article is a second alto who really enjoys having Fran and her smiling face go over (and over…and over) the parts with much patience and finesse.
Pam McNeil, accompanist, stays with the sopranos and altos and can be directed by/and rehearse with anyone.
Then they all get back together until the end of rehearsal. They won’t ever tell which group had the better sectional practices.
Sectionals are fun and very worth the extra rehearsing. Come see and hear the Community Chorus at its best during the concert on Dec. 15.
Chorus members will agree that “sectionals” made it all worthwhile.
