Dennis James McAbee

Dennis James McAbee, 59, of Mill Spring passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2013 at the Hospice House, Forest City, N.C.
Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Hicks and Alcie O’Sullivan McAbee and husband of Anna Thompson McAbee, who died in 2007.
Mr. McAbee worked at Polk Central School for 15 years. He was a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
Surviving is one son, James McAbee of Mobile, Ala.; four brothers, Ed McAbee, Richard McAbee, Bobby McAbee and Bud McAbee, all of Mill Spring; three sisters, Rachael Wilson, Mary Ellen Sheehan and Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Bailey, all of Mill Spring; and his companion, Marlene McDowell.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Craig McAbee.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Dean Elliott officiating.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 1-1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
