Not too far from the former Green Creek High School, the 1943 graduating class met on Sept. 21, 2013 for their 70th reunion.
The class originally consisted of 23 members of which 13 are still living. All are in their late 80s, at least one in the 90s. The gentlemen were all members of the armed forces, most after graduation, but one came back to graduate.
Many stories of high school pranks were bandied about during this several hour visit with old friends. As an observer, it appeared they had never lost a friendship developed so many years ago. The laughter was rampant and seeing these people who did so much to make this country great, was truly inspiring. They had so much fun and vowed to meet again next year.
Sharon and Mike Kapps hosted the reunion and lunch at their home. Sharon is the daughter of one of the class members, Blaine McMurray. Leroy McCraw led the business meeting, Juanita McGuire read some poems and jokes to spark some more laughter.
