Clara Ward

Clara Belle Pearson Ward died peacefully at her home on Oct. 4, 2013.

She was surrounded by her family and close friends. She was born in Elk Mills, Tenn. on Feb. 1, 1932 to William Ross and Dove L. Pearson. She is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Although a native of Carter County; she and her beloved husband, Milt, lived in several locations around the country. They were also able to travel abroad on many occasions and had countless friends in many locations.

Clara had made her home in Tryon for the last 30 years, where she became a constant source of good in this community. She was active member in the Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and was president on the Women’s Fellowship.

Clara was loved by all who knew her and had countless friends and family who adored her and she them. She leaves a legacy of goodness and kindness, which shall be remembered long after her passing.

She is survived by two sons and several grandchildren, Stephen Ward, his wife Chris and grandchildren Julia and Matt Ward of Alpharetta, Ga.; John Ward, wife Kim of Shreveport, La. and grandchildren Jonathan and Christy of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were a constant joy to her. She is further survived by one sister, Betty Pearson Bristol of Elizabethton, Tenn.

Services for Clara Ward will be held at the Congregational Church in Tryon on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. under the direction of Dr. Robert Barrows. Music will be provided by the Congregational choir. A reception will be held immediately after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made directly to the family to help defray burial expenses.
