The fourth and fifth grade classes of Polk County Schools took a field trip to Alexander’s Ford on Friday, Oct. 4.
There were 341 students and approximately 40 adults who attended through an Overmountain Victory Trail Association (OVTA) grant.
The OVTA also provides funding for Polk County School libraries to have material regarding the Overmountain Victory Trail.
The Polk County Rescue Squad brings ATVs each year so every student can go on the trail.
This is the 233rd anniversary of the Overmountain men marching through the area on their way to Kings Mountain.
