Shrubs and Vines: learn about natives and invasives
Published 9:32 pm Sunday, October 6, 2013
The third and final fall class at Pearson’s Falls is fast approaching.
On Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m., John Vining, Polk County Extension Agency Director and Master Gardener instructor, will conduct the 90-minute class called “Shrubs and Vines — Natives and Invasives.”
Vining, who has served Polk County since 1982, says, “Pearson’s Falls has it all — geology, native plants. It’s just a great place to visit.”
The glen and surrounding areas have “some of the greatest diversity of wildflowers in the county,” and Vining will instruct the limited-size class on the finer points of identification.
When asked what to expect in the class, Vining says, “In a year like this — with all the weird weather — all bets are off.”
Pre-registration is required for the class.
