Anderson taught family love of country

Dad has been gone 30 years this past April, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him, how much he taught me, how deeply I miss him. I enlisted in the Air Force myself just before he retired, married an Air Force man who even taught at the same place my father had taughr. The last child he got to spend time with was our son Kristofer who is now an active duty Marine stationed in the San Diego area. Dad would be proud… three generations of military.
I live in Green Creek now. Can’t say that any place is where I am “from” because my life has been one base after another. I have actually lived here longer than I have lived anywhere else in my life, being here nearly 15 years now. I don’t “belong” anywhere, but he will always be in his little home town of Henry, Ill. on the banks of the Illinois River on a plaque with his brother’s name and his listed under those who served in Korea and Vietnam for all to remember him for the rest of time.
This “Honor Your Veteran” tribute to MSgt Harry E Anderson was submitted by his daughter, Kate McLaney of Green Creek.
