Polk County has a new board of elections following the state board of elections announcing new appointments last week.

The new board will be sworn in during the board’s first meeting on Tuesday, July 16 at noon.

The new board members are David Moore (R), Scott Woodworth (R) and Sharon Goettert (D).

The new board replaces former board members Becky Kennedy (D), Judy Arledge (D) and George Comparetto (R).

Board appointments are made by the Polk County Democrat and Republican parties, which recommend nominees to state committees who make recommendations to the state board of elections.

Polk County also has hired new board of elections director Tracy Waters this year following the retirement of former elections director Dale Edwards.
