Can you think of a more enjoyable way to spend an afternoon than sitting in a brightly colored Adirondack chair, gazing over acres of perfectly manicured grapevines with our mountains as a backdrop, a glass of slightly chilled Revolutionary Red in hand?

If you’ve been to Overmountain Vineyards lately, then you most likely know exactly what I’m referring to.

Proprietors Frank and Lita Lilly graciously welcome guests every Thursday through Sunday to their little piece of paradise right in the middle of Green Creek. Originally a cotton and tobacco farm in the 20s and 30s, the farm was purchased in the 1990s and returned to its roots. Overmountain Vineyards was established in 2002 as a commercial vineyard in the foothills of Polk County. The tasting room was opened in 2010 and has become a favorite of locals and tourists.

Named for the Overmountain Victory National Trail, which commemorates the military campaign that led to patriot victory at the Battle of King Mountain in the fall of 1780, Overmountain Vineyards has a two mile certified, protected segment of the Overmountain National Victory Trail available for the public to hike.
