The American Cancer Society is asking businesses, schools, churches and residents to show their support in the fight against cancer by “Painting Polk Purple” May 18 – May 31.

The community can do this by decorating in purple or by ordering a purple bow to place on their property.

• Display purple on doors, windows, mailboxes or anywhere your neighbors can see it.

• If your display is inside your business, be sure to display a sign in your window so your business can be judged.

• Purple bows are available for a suggested donation of $10 to the American Cancer Society. Drop by Tryon Federal Bank in Columbus to get your purple bow.

Decorating should be completed by Friday, May 18. Judging will take place the week of May 20. The winner will receive a proud sponsor track sign at Relay For Life of Polk County on May 31 at Polk County Middle School.

Relay For Life brings together more than 3.5 million people every year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and empower individuals and communities to fight back against a disease that takes too much from too many.
