Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate has a photography exhibit on display at Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg, S.C. from now until May 30.

The exhibit is a part of the ImageMakers Project. More than 200 fourth through eighth-grade club members participated in this project from January-May 2013. There are more than 150 original prints on display. The opening reception will be held at the Chapman Cultural Center on Friday, May 17, 4-6 p.m. during our Afterschool Showcase.

Through the ImageMakers Photography Workshop Club members learn to not only take, edit and upload digital images, but also how to maneuver and interface with digital editing programs through the use of five tablet computers. Students are taught the basics of digital photography and composition through five core exercises that explore shadow and light, point of view, mood and moment. At the end of each session students are able to upload and edit their images.
