At the Upper State (SC) Track and Field meet held at Landrum on Saturday, May 4, about 20 Landrum High School athletes qualified to compete in the 2013 South Carolina High School League State Championship meet.

The Landrum girls team placed third in the team competition, while the boys tied for fifth. The state meet will be held on Saturday, May 11 at Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, S.C.

Girls qualifying:

· Holly Rickett first in discus throw.

· Carla Bruce tied for first in high jump.

· Maddie Jones second in 400 meter hurdles.

· Shelby Morris second in pole vault.

· Maddie Jones, Carla Bruce, Miranda Stallings, Sarah Cash fourth (alternates Ciera Belue and Deegan Green), in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

· Samantha Waters, Ciera Belue, Brianna Hall, Sarah Cash (alternate Paige Herbst), fourth in 4 x 800 meter relay.

Boys qualifying:

· Aaron Bryant second in triple jump

· Sam Robinson second in 100 meter hurdles and third 400 meter hurdles.

· Troy Hodge, Thomas Sparks, Ian Betzel and Kevin Human, (alternates Ben Boatwright and Thomas Riordan) third in 4 x 800 meter relay.

· Daniel Cooper and Hunter Conley third and fourth in high jump.

· Derrick Brittain fourth shot put.
