WCCR presents mystery month

Published 9:44 am Tuesday, April 9, 2013

The Western Carolina Classic Radio Club will meet Monday, April 15 at 2 p.m. on the ICC Polk Campus in Columbus.

The old time radio segment will be a Shadow program, “Sabotage by Air,” which first aired on radio March 5, 1939. The Shadow was the most popular daytime show for many of its 25 years on the air.

The radio/TV presentation will be Martin Kane, Private Eye, in the adventure of “The Fortune Teller.” In this show, Kane is put to the test when he must identify the killer of a young woman whose death appears to be the handiwork of one of her neighbors. It is interesting to note that Martin Kane ran concurrently on both radio and television.

Professor Hoyt will keep everyone guessing with his excellent trivia quiz.

The Spring Jazz Series is taking the day off but will return May 20 featuring Ella at her best.

Everyone is welcome and it is free to the public. It is a lot of fun recalling “the good old days.”
