Everyone knows that music soothes the soul, but it must also keep you young at heart if you follow the example of Joseph and Kathleen Erwin of Tryon.

Come to the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) on March 17 at 4 p.m. to hear this “mature” 90-year-old couple perform.

“We are glad to be back at FENCE and we look forward to seeing you at the concert,” said Joseph.

Joseph and Kathleen met while both were students at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. After graduation Joe added music education to his repertoire when he accepted Juilliard’s invitation to join the faculty.

FENCE administration feels  fortunate to be able to share the Erwin’s music right here in Polk County. Join FENCE for this free event, sponsored by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation.

The program is “Transforming Life’s Dissonance into Consonance.” The final musical offering is an original composition written by Joseph to words from Thomas Wolfe’s “You Can’t Go Home Again,” here arranged for violin.

The FENCE Family Concert is free and open to all. There will be light refreshments served after the concert. FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon.
