Cash, who is a seasoned athlete with dual passions — running and cycling — has enjoyed watching Boothe transform her fitness and mindset. While Cash has many marathons and half marathons on his running resume, he inspired by Boothe, his current running partner.
“Maria is strong and fearless. She truly inspires me,” said Cash.
The Tryon Half Marathon Race is hosted by the Tryon Running Club and offers an out-and-back course that meanders on a mostly packed gravel road that is relatively flat given it winds through Tryon’s hilly horse country. Proceeds from the race will be donated to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry, a food pantry and financial assistance nonprofit organization in Polk County.
Late registration is open at Harmon Field on Friday, Nov. 16 from 4-7 p.m. and on race morning from 6:30-7:30 a.m. The race starts at 8 a.m. For more information about the race, contact Scarlette Tapp at 864-680-1770.
The Tryon Running Club is a 501(c)(3) chapter of the Road Runners Clubs of America and welcomes walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.
