David Arthur Lee Herbert, 58, of 121 White Oak Mountain Road, Columbus, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Charleston, S.C. and was the son of the late Arthur Lee Herbert and Lettie Stouder Herbert. David was raised in Columbia, S.C. and graduated from the University of South Carolina.
David worked for the Whirlpool Corporation for 24 years, in sales and executive leadership positions, and received the Division Retail Director of the Year award in 2006. Upon relocating to Columbus, David managed the Watson Flooring and Appliance store in Columbus. More recently, David worked with Eastern Marketing Corporation as the district sales manager.
David is survived by Linda Burgan Herbert, his wife of 36 years; sons Jonathan Herbert of Hudson, N.C. and Jason (Christin) Herbert; granddaughter Madison of Batesburg, S.C.; brothers Geoff (Amy) Herbert of Greenville, S.C. and Chris (Mary) Herbert of East Flat Rock, N.C.; sister Dona (Mark) Corley of Leesville, S.C.; and step-mother Ginger Herbert of Columbia, S.C.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Philip A. Whitehead officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
