In an effort to help with a native plant rescue in a N.C. Department of Transportation right-of-way scheduled for clearing, the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) is working with the Pacolet Area Conservancy (PAC) to provide homes for native plants rescued by PAC and Tryon Garden Club (TGC) volunteers.
On May 3, PAC Land Protection Specialist Pam Torlina worked with FENCE board member Gretchen Verbonic and FENCE staff members Joey Thompson and Roy Flores to plant the rescued natives on the FENCE property.
“There was an area on the FENCE property that is in need of restoring, so it seemed like a perfect fit,” Torlina said.
PAC, TGC and FENCE will continue these efforts until all of the plants are rescued or clearing begins.
