Men’s President Cup
The Men’s President’s Cup at Tryon Country Club begins play the first week in May with a format of singles match play with handicap.
There will be two divisions: open (blue/yellow tees) and senior (green/brown) playing one match per week. The overall champion will be decided by the winners of both flights playing one another, with handicap adjustment. The deadline to sign up for this event is Friday, April 27.
Polk High golf team event
The Polk High Golf team event, a fundraiser event for the Polk golf team, was held Saturday, April 21 with nine teams competing in two flights (gross and net).
The net winners were the team of Dick Johnson, Jim Shirley, Bill Sitton and Dylan Jones, a golf team member, with a score of 60 – net 54.
Second net went to the team of Jim McCain, Bill Brock, Lash Brock and Dennis Sakos – 63-net 57.
The Gross winners were Jim Hemphill, Fred Edwards, Jr., Steve Walker and Billy Walker with a score of 54.
Closest to the hole winners were Dennis Sakos (9/18) and Jim McCain (5/14)
