Applications for Converse College’s coeducational summer workshops, open to rising 10th – 12th-grade students, are due April 30. The Young Writer’s Workshop and CSI: Converse are residential programs that will be held June 17 – 22 on the Converse campus. In Spartanburg, S.C.
The Young Writers Workshop offers students the opportunity to develop talents in poetry, fiction, playwriting and creative nonfiction. Participants receive personal instruction and critique from professional writers in several genres of writing: poetry, fiction, playwriting and creative nonfiction. They learn techniques that help writers recognize strengths, potential and avenues for successful writing, editing and publishing.
CSI: Converse participants explore the world of forensic science by securing a crime scene, gathering clues and processing evidence in science labs. They learn about blood typing and DNA fingerprinting and investigate a crime scene by studying fingerprints, shoeprints, hairs, fibers and powders. The workshop includes presentations by forensics experts and a tour of the Spartanburg Crime Lab.
