Mitchell and Joyce Stott of Mill Spring are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby Michelle Stott, to James Douglas Guffey, son of Jimmy and Renee Guffey of Wingate, N.C.
Abby is the granddaughter of Marvetta Stott and the late Bob Stott of Columbus. She is also the granddaughter of the late Ned and Ruth Searcy of Mill Spring.
She is a 2007 graduate of Polk County High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned a B.S. degree in nursing. She is employed with Carolina Medical Center in Pineville, N.C.
Doug is the grandson of W.D. and Kathy Phifer of Wingate, N.C. He is also the grandson of the late Jim and JoAnn Guffey of Wingate, N.C. Doug is the great-grandson of Mildred Phifer of Wingate, N.C.
Mr. Guffey is a 2006 graduate of Forest Hills High School and a 2010 graduate of Western Carolina University, where he earned a B.S. degree in business administration and law as well as a B.S. in finance with a concentration in banking. He is employed with the City of Monroe.
A June wedding is planned at Crestview Baptist Church in Forest City, N.C.
