For Landrum, it all came down to the agony of one inning on Thursday, March 29.
The third was the difference for Landrum and a win over Blue Ridge. The Tigers scored five runs in the third inning en route to a 6-4 victory.
For just a brief moment, the wheels came off for the Cardinals in the third inning. Tiger third baseman Zack Byer singled with one out to get the rally started. Alex Williams followed with a double. Byer scored on a wild pitch by T.J. Fincher and Williams scored on the throw from Landrum catcher Gavin Bishop back to Fincher to try and get Byer out. The ball got past Fincher and rolled towards the pitcher’s mound. John Mason Reynolds followed with a single, reached second on an error before coming home on a Ty Montgomery double. Kyle Foster drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single.
