A visit to House of Flags, legislature reconvenes and voter ID

Voter ID
Photo identification is a way of life in America as it is in much of the world.  It is unfathomable to me that you can’t get into the governor’s mansion, get a tattoo, buy pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) or drive a vehicle without a photo ID. I could go on and on but the ironic thing is you can vote by only stating a name and an address. Tell me the logic in this.
Bi-partisan Voter ID legislation passed the state legislature last year. It was vetoed by the governor. This should not be a partisan issue. Nearly 75 percent of all North Carolinians want photo ID for all voters to assure the integrity of our elections.  The NC Senate has overriden the veto. In the House overriding a veto takes 3/5 of the members available in the chamber and voting. The House speaker has said he will call for a vote whenever the votes are available. If the veto is not overriden this year, I’m certain a new voter ID bill will be filed in 2012.
