Monthly gathering of Slow Polks

On Sunday, March 25, another gathering of the newly formed Slow Food Foothills movement will be held at 4:30 p.m. at La Bouteille Wine & Beer Boutique in downtown Tryon. All those interested please bring a potluck dish and your own serving plate and utensils. La Bouteille will offer local beer and wine for sale during the gathering.
The concept of the Slow Food Movement is to “slow down” and be aware of what you are eating, how you are living, how you are supporting local growers, bakers and artisans and making sustainable choices in all areas of our lives.
Movement organizers said they believe in bringing back local food traditions, increasing awareness of where food comes from to help people make healthy choices. The mission of Slow Foods Foothills is “to promote and preserve the food culture of the region through relationships between farmers, the table, families and the community.”
In addition to its regular agenda, the purpose of this meeting will be to announce the new committees and the upcoming Slow Food fundraiser at Overmountain Vineyard and Winery. The date for this fundraiser is set for Sunday, May 20 from 4 – 8 p.m. Details will be discussed at this meeting and an announcement will be made shortly thereafter.
