Vote for N.C. state marriage amendment

To the Editor:
Tuesday, May 8 will find the citizens  of North Carolina at an important crossroads in making a decision about the Marriage Protection Amendment. N.C. is the only southern state that has not protected marriage in our state constitution.
A vote will be taken on May 8 to add to the N.C. Constitution that, “Marriage between one man and one woman is the only legal union that shall be valid or recognized in the state of North Carolina.”
As a Christian, I encourage and urge all Christians to get out and vote for this marriage amendment. Those who oppose this amendment will do their best to defeat it!
Mr. Erik Stanley, a senior legal counsel with The Alliance Defense Fund, who specializes in representing churches, pastors, etc., has shared with churches that any church or Christian can vote, or encourage others to vote, for this state marriage amendment. Therefore, pastors and churches can freely promote and encourage others to vote for this amendment.
As churches of Jesus Christ and his followers, we have a divine mandate from God’s word to be the salt and light in this world on the spiritual, social and moral issues of our day. To do anything less would be hypocritical, and failing to “contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints.”. Jude, verse 3.
God created men and women to be joined in the bonds of holy and sacred marriage. That is His one and only plan! He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, or Eve and Edna, etc. Any other union other than one man and one woman is wrong and a sin against a thrice Holy God.
There are those men and women that have perverted God’s plan and are living unrighteous, ungodly lives today and are hoping to make these vile affections legal in North Carolina. If the Bible is true, and we know it is, then to go against what the Bible instructs us to do and be is to go against God Himself.
Hear the words of Jesus Christ, God’s son and God the Son.  Matthew 19: 4-6 “And He, (Jesus) answered and said unto them, have you never read, that He (God) which made them at the beginning made them male and female and said, for this cause (marriage) shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they two shall be one flesh. Wherefore  they are no more two but one flesh.
What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.”  Signed, Almighty God.
Let’s get out to the polls and vote for a constitutional change that God can be proud of.
