Autumn Care of Saluda has entered into a new arrangement with Park Ridge Geriatrics for the provision of health care for its residents. The new medical director for the facility is Dr. Ben Pusser, D.O., who will also serve as the attending physician for the facility’s residents. He will be assisted by Whitney Doiron, FNP, along with other medical staff belonging to the group.

“We are excited about the new opportunities Park Ridge Geriatrics brings to our facility,” said Glenn Pierce, administrator.  According to Pierce, the change to Park Ridge Geriatrics offers a number of advantages for Autumn Care residents, such as:
Direct admission to Park Ridge Health, eliminating the need for a lengthy ER stay.
Coordination of care for residents needing hospitalization through the group’s affiliation with Park Ridge Health.
Coordination of care with medical specialists at Park Ridge Health, providing improved communication and coordination of resident care needs.
Reduced transportation time for residents needing specialty care.
“The transition to Park Ridge Geriatrics has been very smooth,” Pierce said. “The group’s relationship with Park Ridge Health is providing us with other new opportunities as we continue to explore the relationship.”
According to Alethea Capps, director of nursing, one of those new opportunities is providing a much-needed service.
“Psychiatric services are an important need among our resident population,” Capps said.  “With the group’s recent addition of Dr. Julie Iacona, psychiatrist, we have greatly improved our ability to serve the mental health needs of our residents.”
The facility will hold a reception in the spring for family and community members to meet the leadership team from Park Ridge Health.
“We appreciate the time and effort Park Ridge Health and Park Ridge Geriatrics has put into making this new arrangement a success,” Pierce said.  “We look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
