Filing period under way; ends Feb. 29
Filing for Polk County Board of Education seats began this week, contrary to earlier reports that it would not begin until June.
Polk County Board of Elections Director Dale Edwards said state information sent previously was incorrect. Filing for three open Polk County Board of Commissioner seats and three board of education seats, along with the clerk of court and register of deeds, all began Monday, Feb. 13.
The seats of Rick Covil (Tryon Township), Melanie Talbot (Saluda Township) and Cindy Allen (White Oak Township) are all open this year.
Filing ends on Feb. 29 at noon.
Filing for all Polk County positions can be done at the Polk County Board of Elections Office, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.
