Above: Daryle Ryce, singer and songwriter, entertains the “Chase Away the Blues” audience at Tryon Fine Arts Center in January. Audience members who had not been aware of this local musician said they joined her national and international fan base after hearing her soulful sound. Eight acts played during the new event, which raised money and awareness for TFAC’s growing Arts in Education program. Below: Concert goers of all ages were “reeling and rocking to them lowdown blues” during Tryon Fine Arts Center’s recent benefit, “Chase Away the Blues.” Pictured here are people dancing as Chuck Beattie, a.k.a. Dr. Blues and Shane Pruitt among other seasoned musicians, jammed the night away. No names will be given, TFAC said, because “what happens at TFAC stays at TFAC.” (photo submitted by Marianne Carruth)
