Local musicians play at one of Bibi Freer’s regular Sunday jam sessions in this still from the “Welcome to Polk County” video, which will have its first showing tonight, Monday, Jan. 9 at the county commissioners’ meeting.

Those attending the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting Monday, Jan. 9 will witness a premiere of the new “Welcome to Polk County” video.
The video touts Polk County as a great place to live and work, said Polk County Economic Development and Tourism Director Libbie Johnson.
“The video project was recently completed and shows off the county’s natural resources, entrepreneurial pride, school and hospital systems and tourism events, as well as highlighting the area’s quality of life,” Johnson said.
The 7-minute video was produced locally by Turner HD Media of Mill Spring.
Turner HD Media contracted to work on the video in June 2011 and wrapped up final edits this past December.
“We focused on the people of Polk County, as well as our natural beauty, history, education, health care, equestrian interests… all told by the people themselves with Libbie [Johnson] doing the wrap-arounds,” Lynn Turner said of producing the video.
Turner HD conducted interviews with equestrian Susie Kocher, Lynn Sprague of the Mill Spring Agriculture and Economic Development Center, Polk County Schools Director of Curriculum Aaron Greene, Dr. Brian Rosenberg of St. Luke’s Hospital, Frank Lilly of Overmountain Vineyards, Tim and Sara Bell of Green River Adventures and Beth Child of the Tryon Fine Arts Center, among others, to point out the diversity of personal interests and business pursuits of Polk County.
Clips throughout the video show sweeping shots of the area’s picturesque landscape, residents working at the ag center and on area farms, students in classrooms learning, paddlers taking on the Green River and musicians jamming at local concerts.
The video is about 7 minutes long. If you cannot make it to the commissioners’ meeting, you can watch the video at www.turnerhdmedia.com or at http://youtu.be/ZdobrSVASOA.
