Creasys celebrate 50 years of marriage

Al and Fran Creasy of Tryon will celebrate their 50th anniversary Dec. 29 with two days of festivities with family and friends.
The Creasys were married Dec. 29, 1961 at the First Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
They first met 67 years ago when Al’s brother was dating Fran’s aunt. Fran was 5 years old and Al was 9. Four years later they were junior attendants in that couple’s wedding.
The Creasys have two daughters: Elaine (Tom) Grella and Melinda (Steve Fitzgerald). They also have seven grandchildren.
Al was a LtJG in the Navy, and retired after 35 years with State Farm Insurance Companies as assistant vice president, data processing in the corporate headquarters, Bloomington, Ill. Fran was a band and chorus director, taught flute for 60 years and retired as director of music for Calvary United Methodist Church, Normal, Ill. The Creasys retired to Tryon in 1996 and built their home in Beau Valley.
