The Tryon Garden Club, owner and operator of Pearson’s Falls, has received funding from the Polk County Community Foundation (PCCF) through the Kirby Endowment Fund grants. This funding has allowed the club to administer one phase of the ongoing treatment to the hemlocks at Pearson’s Falls in order to help to preserve them from the effects of the wooly adelgid. Without treatment, there is the risk of total loss of these trees in the glen.
Several other trees had to be removed and PCCF funds were provided to assist in removing these trees with little or no damage to the surrounding vegetation in the glen.
The glen has recently been referred to as a treasure.  Located on Pearson’s Falls Road off Hwy. 176 in Polk County, the glen is open to visitors seven days a week. According to the Tryon Garden Club, increased interest in the glen is being documented each month.
