The annual Ache Around the Lake run at Lake Lanier Saturday, Sept. 24 attracted crowds of runners, some taking part in the 8k (4.97-mile) Ache course, which is USATF-certified and has many inclines and switchbacks, and some in the 2-mile Ouch fun run.
Proceeds from this year’s event go to support the St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation’s efforts to raise dollars toward the purchase of an Omnicell One-cell Omnisupplier for Anesthesia for the hospital.
The overall male winner of the Ache was 40-year-old David Workman of Hendersonville, N.C., who finished with a time of 29:12.70. Amber Moran, 32, of Skyland, N.C., who was the overall female winner with a time of 29:54.06, followed close behind Workman.
Second- and third-place winners in the male division were Matthew Green, 14, of Spartanburg, S.C., and 37-year-old Brooks Saucier of Lynn at 30:01:68 and 30:09.33, respectively.
Second- and third-place winners in the female division were Michelle McClendon, 38, of Tryon with 34:42.66 and Mandy Wolfe, 35, of Columbus at 36:14.89.
