In May 2010, the board of the Saluda Center announced the center had received a $5,500 grant from the Saluda Community Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation. The grant was to complete a landscaping and beautification project at the Saluda Center complex to include the main building, the old scout hut and the Thrifty Barn.
Saluda Center board president Judy Ward said, “We are grateful to receive these funds, proud of the project they are supporting and proud to be a part of this unique community.”
The board recently announced the project has been completed. The grading and landscaping was done by Colt Love, owner of Silver Creek Lawn and Landscape in Columbus.
An anonymous donor established the Saluda Community Fund, a competitive grant fund, in 2006 to celebrate Saluda and benefit Saluda organizations that are serving the residents of Saluda. The donor said Saluda is “the most unique place on the planet; there is a sense in people of being where they belong.”
The vision of the Polk County Community Foundation is to advance philanthropy and improve the quality of life for all citizens in Polk County and the surrounding area.
