To the Editor:
On behalf of the American Legion Post 250, I would like to extend our hearty gratitude to Andy Millard and Millard and Company for the event on June 6 honoring our local veterans.
The group of attending veterans, including 14 World War II veterans, were feted to an afternoon screening of the D-Day epic movie, “The Longest Day.” The Depot room was decorated in a patriotic theme and refreshments were served.
The attending veterans expressed their deep appreciation for the attention focused on their service and sacrifices in one of the world’s most horrific world wars. As this generation begins to fade, it is important for us as citizens to reflect on the role these men and women played in the preservation of the freedoms we enjoy today.
