Classmates of Skyler Warren (bottom, left) at the Polk County Early College raised a sizeable donation in her honor for the Histiocytosis Association of America. After Warren presented a program at the school about this disease, her fellow students donated money and hosted a “hat day” fundraiser. Warren was born with histiocytosis, a rare immune disorder that affects one in 200,000 children. Warren underwent treatment, is now in remission and continues to raise funds for research.
