Rev. Rob Parsons, pastor of Columbus and Saluda United Methodist Churches and 2010 Crop Walk chair, presents Carol Newman, director of Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries, with a check for their portion of the funds raised to battle the ravages of hunger and poverty in the region as well as the world. Operation Hope in Landrum will also receive a portion of the funds raised. The first weekend in November people from around the region converge on Harmon Field to put an end to hunger. Churches, schools, clubs, businesses and indivduals gather donations, prayers and concerns for all those on our planet who are deprived of the basic elements of life – food, water and shelter. The 2010 walk had over 250 walkers, 14 sponsors, many regional churches, clubs and individuals raised over $9,200. (photo submitted)
