The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will meet at the Tryon Youth Center on Rt. 176 N. on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 10:30 a.m.

The speaker will be Dr. Don Emon who will speak on the topic, “An Atheist Speaks on Ethics.”

“Christians believe that Jesus is a unique God and consistent with this belief, one should act ethically. Atheists believe that God doesn’t exist and consistent with living in a society, one should act ethically,” said Emon. These two approaches to ethics will be presented followed by a discussion.

Dr. Emon retired from the Dept. of Energy in 1991. At present he devotes his time to the board of the Compassion and Choices of Western NC organization, the Edneyville Grange, the Interfaith Assistance Ministry and as vice president of the non-profit Home Mortgage Assistance Corporation.
