The Tryon Concert Association will present clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester and pianist Anna Polonsky at the Tryon Fine Arts Center in the third concert of the 2010-2011 season, Friday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m.

Franch-Ballester was born in Moncofa, Spain, graduated from the Joaquin Rodrigo Music Conservatory in Valencia in 2000 and then continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he graduated in 2005. He became a member of Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society Two and continues to perform with them in New York. He has won numerous awards, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008, and performs across the nation and abroad.

Russian-born Anna Polonsky made her solo piano debut at the age of 7 in Moscow. She immigrated to the United States in 1990, attending high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music and her Master’s Degree from The Juilliard School. Polonsky presently serves on the piano faculty at Vassar College.

The concert on Feb. 25 will present music from the 18th through the 20th centuries, including works by von Weber, Debussy, Martinu, Bunch and Novacek.
