TROT seeks horses for spring session

The Therapeutic Riding of Tryon (TROT) program at FENCE is looking for horses for the spring session, which begins March 12 and ends May 21. Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – noon.

Horses are used only once a week and TROT tries to accommodate the owner’s desired day. Usually there are two horses and riders in the ring simultaneously, with a horse leader, TROT rider and two side walkers for each horse/rider combination.

There is petting and grooming and happiness in the barn before the horses are tacked up for each ride. TROT horses are definitely “pampered.” Rosemary’s barn and ring are located in a very quiet corner of FENCE that is easily accessible to all.

All horses continue to live at their own homes, but are brought to the venue for each of their sessions by their owners or another volunteer using the TROT trailer.
