On Saturday, Jan. 29, a crowd streamed into the Mill Spring Agricultural Center for the second indoor winter farmer’s market of the season.

There were classic winter sweet potatoes, bison meat and accessories, handmade soaps and body care products, homemade laundry detergent, mixed nut combinations, healthy dog treats, fresh eggs, baked goods and coffee. There was also a crate of crowd-pleasing baby chicks on hand, peeping loudly and insistently under their heat lamp.

Part of the Ag Center’s mission is to be a community gathering place that also celebrates the community’s tie to agriculture.

The Ag Center will host two more winter markets this year: Feb. 19 and March 26 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., before the seasonal spring markets begin at the four locations in Polk County in April.
