Upcoming exhibits at the Upstairs Artspace present more than 25 artists who are new to Western North Carolina. “Brainstorm: Opening Minds, Embracing Change” and “Alex Irvine: Contemporary Face Jugs” open on Friday, Feb. 11 and run through March 26. A public reception to meet the artists is Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5 – 8 p.m.

“Brainstorm” is a multi-media traveling exhibit featuring 28 women artists belonging to Women’s Caucus for Art-Georgia Chapter. Only one artist has exhibited previously at the Upstairs. Curated by Barbara Rehg, the exhibit visualizes the process and the result of brainstorming sessions as experienced by the artists. Artistic styles include painting, silverpoint, collage, drawing and fiber art.

The Women’s Caucus for Art is a national organization supporting women’s contributions to visual art through exhibits, education and publications.
