Wreck sends one to Spartanburg Regional

Emergency personnel move an injured patient onto a Regional 1 helicopter.

A Regional 1 helicopter airlifted one person to Spartanburg Regional after a one-car accident on Lyle Street in Tryon Sunday, Jan. 23 around 3:30 p.m.
According to Tryon Fire Chief Joey Davis, the fire department, along with Tryon Police and Polk County EMS were dispatched at 2:55 p.m. to a report of a subject struck by a vehicle in front of 75 Lyle Street.
Upon arrival, Davis said units found the victim lying in the roadway. Once EMS was on the scene the decision was made to airlift the patient to Spartanburg Regional due to the extent of injuries.  Regional One landed at Harmon Field and transported the patient back to Spartanburg.  Tryon Fire was assisted at the landing zone by Columbus Fire Department.  The investigation of the accident is being handled by the Tryon Police who had not completed the investigation as of Monday afternoon.
