James Pelzy Laughter, 60, of 8985 Holbert Cove Rd., Saluda died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.

Son of the late Henry and Mary Sain Laughter, he was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason as well as a Shriner.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Bishop Laughter; one son, Christopher Laughter of the home; two daughters, Angela Burrell of Green Creek and Pamela Laughter of Sunny View; and one stepson, Jeff Ramsey of Saluda. Also surviving are four brothers: Lonso Laughter of Mill Spring, Oscar Laughter of Aberdeen, N.C., Homer Laughter of Green Creek and Johnny Laughter of Mill Spring; as well as two sisters, Goldie Sezier of Mill Spring and Linda Tucker of Green Creek, along with 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Gethsemane Baptist Church, Hendersonville, N.C.

The family will be at the home.
