Cyril Jewell Jr., 92, of Tryon Estates, Columbus passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 in Tryon Estates Medical Facility, Columbus.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Cyril Jewell Sr. and Helen Bennett Jewell. Mr. Jewell was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a retired principal from Lindenhurst High School. Mr. Jewell moved to Polk County in 1997, coming from Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Walker Jewell; one nephew, Thomas Jewell of Cary, N.C., and one niece, Roberta Jewell of Staten Island, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
