Jessica Capps, RN, has been honored by Autumn Care of Saluda as its 2010 Employee of the Year. Capps, a unit supervisor in the facilitys skilled nursing service, has been with Autumn Care since 2008.

Jessica has really blossomed in the role of unit supervisor, noted Alethea Capps, RN, the facilitys director of nursing. She sets high standards for her staff, based on her own desire to provide the best care possible for our residents.

Another reason for Capps selection was her involvement in one of the facilitys most challenging projects in years.

2010 brought Autumn Care into the 21st century with the implementation of a new electronic health record system, said Glenn Pierce, administrator. Jessica was a real champion for the project and quickly became the team leader for learning and then training employees on the system.

If there is an activity going on, she is generally in the middle of it, activity director Joyce Coggins said.

Her enthusiasm spreads throughout the staff, making activities a team project for all departments, Coggins added.

As the Saluda employee of the year winner, Capps will now be a candidate for the Autumn Corporation employee of the year. Winners from the corporations 23 facilities will gather in Rocky Mount in February for a two-day celebration of their accomplishments. During the final banquet, one employee will be selected as the corporate employee of the year.
